Rules
The ICC carrom club follows the international rules of carrom. Some basic rules of the game are listed below.
1. A "game" is played for 25 points. A player can score 3 points for the "queen" or "red" until his score reaches 21, after which it has no value.
2. Use of "hands" or "thumbing" is allowed. Player can hit any coin anywhere on the board (including opponents' coins), as long as the striker is placed in a legal position.
3. All fouls are penalized with one coin and the offending player losing his/her turn to play.
4. Note on powder: This is not quite a rule, but due to health & safety reasons, we prefer to use "potato starch" as opposed to "boric acid" in our club. Potato starch is a tad faster than boric, is used in all tournaments in the western hemisphere, and works pretty well on all kinds of carrom boards.
